What is Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is often referred to as "yogic sleep" it is a guided meditative practice allowing you to lie down in a comfortable position to achieve a deep state of conscious relaxation.  This practice sometimes known as Non-Sleep-Deep-Rest (NSDR) a place between waking and sleeping to encourage physical and mental restoration.  It activates the body's restorative parasympathetic nervous system offering many benefits for physical, mental and emotional well being including:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Improve quality of sleep

  • Calms the nervous system

  • Improves focus and clarity

  • Helps emotional balance

  • Enhances creativity

  • Can lower heart rate and blood pressure

  • Increase self awareness and mindfulness

What to expect in my Yoga Nidra breath & movement class

The class will begin with gentle, mindful movement and breath work (pranayama) to help release tension from the body, calm the mind, and prepare the nervous system for deep relaxation.  After creating space through movement and breath, you'll be guided into Yoga Nidra -

Lying down in a comfortable position, you will be invited to follow my voice as I guide you to relax your body, notice your breath, be aware of sensations and visualisations, set intention (sankalpa) guiding you into a state of conscious rest.  Here the body sleeps, but the mind remains aware, coming to a place of stillness, supporting deep healing, inner clarity and emotional balance.

At the end of the class I will gently guide you back to your physical body and normal level of consciousness, to continue with your everyday life.

Classes are for all levels - no prior experience needed - simply come with an open mind and a willingness to relax.
